Thoughts on my Otakuthon Con appearance.
Last Friday I attended the Otakuthon Anime Convention here in Montreal in full BLACK TERROR (my character) get-up to push the webseries HEROES OF THE NORTH. To say our heavy artillery and scary costumes motley crew didn’t fit within an Anime Convention filled with Fairies and Pikachues would be an understatement but hey it kind of worked in our favor. We stood out, and our booth was crowded pretty much all the time. Personally, it killed me that girls of all ages were scared shitless of me. They’d see me and run the other way. LOL! They had to get me away from the booth after a while because people were terrified of approaching it and I was making us lose dough.
Some of my highlights would be: Arguing with “good cop/bad cop” security guards over my prop guns, they wanted them out; it didn’t fly, guns were part of my costume…they stayed… RELAX A-HOLES! RELAX! Funny how when some people are put in a position of power; it goes straight to their heads quicker than I can spell fuck and you…next thing you know they become Dirty Harry. Made me laugh. I also enjoyed taking pictures with varied Con attendees, checking out all the costumed female ass walking about (damn) but the top moments for me was taking pics with little kids (like 8 years old and shit); the smile on their faces and the sparkle in their eyes made my day. I loved how they weren’t frightened of me, like at all, but grown women were…damn hilarious! Overall, this was a fun experience, not one I’d do every day, but now and again; its all good!
NOTE: Man them BLACK TERROR syringe pens sold like hot cakes…it was nuts!
