Been getting lots of emails from old friends asking me “when the fuck did you start liking hockey”? And it’s a valid question. You got to understand, my whole life I didn’t give an ounce of a shit about Hockey. Sure I played it in the streets at like 12 years old but never cared for watching it on TV… EVER! ZERO INTEREST. The only sport I followed was boxing. Today, good luck in seeing me without a damn HABS t-shirt on. So what happened?

Well, my brother brought me to see a game live last year and I had a blast. After that I saw more games live, that progressed to me watching games on TV and if memory serves me right; it was seeing the ALL STAR GAME live, which Kovalev aced that locked the deal; I had found a new love – it was the MONTREAL CANADIENS, aka THE HABS hockey. And you know what, I so needed that! You have to understand – my existence is mostly all work and it ALL revolves around movies. The site, screenwriting, acting, directing, jerking off… all movies. So now I have something that I love that’s not film related and man is it refreshing!

The fact that it gave me a reason to appreciate the city of Montreal again (the shitty film industry here KILLED my liking for this city like eons ago) and that it brought me and my brother closer were added pluses. My bro and I had a fucked up childhood (an After School Special on acid as I call it), so we were rarely close; now as “adults” (well, immature adults) we’re good friends and FINALLY true brothers. And our mutual love for the HABS made that bond even stronger – who knew – you just can’t go wrong with that jive!

So yeah, I now dig hockey – I’m all about it. So until the next season starts, I’ll be playing it with friends, visiting Habs related landmarks, eating at Guy Lafleur’s restaurant (great fucking ribs), killing NHL on XBOX and waching Kovalev’s Hockey Tips DVD to better my PATHETIC game.  I am SLOWLY improving… VERY slowly… but give me year and I’ll top shelf your ass : )
